Do What You Love

As Sunday was National Parents’ Day, the team at AAB Consulting wanted to take a moment to express our love and gratitude for our families:

Audrey Stewart:

Do what you love: Words to live by or an unrealistic expectation? For me, these days they really are words to live by. You can add 'life is too short' to that too! For those of you that know me, you know that I don't often post on here, but I had a proud mum moment recently that I wanted to share.

Last week, my daughter (Rachael) earned her ears (yip – you heard right!) and was presented with her name badge by a certain Mr. Mouse. It's been a dream of hers for so long, and this year she was successful in securing a place on Disney's 2022 Cultural Exchange Programme. After initially peeling her off the ceiling, and now three weeks of trying to acclimatise to the 36C Florida heat, this week she started working in the Magic Kingdom as a Disney cast member. She is truly loving it and, of course, doing what she loves in the most magical place on Earth. Last year, I had a cancer diagnosis that reinforced to me that life is all too short and that you really should grab every opportunity to get the best out of life whilst you can, and that is why I am so proud of Rachael doing just that (and of my other two children of course 😊).

Glenn Hogg:

These three years have been the best and the toughest of my life thanks to our boys. I’ll just highlight how fortunate I am to have such amazing support from my wife, my own parents and in-laws as well as siblings, friends and colleagues!

Lesley Fordyce:

Grateful to my mum for being a fab role model and grateful to my daughter for helping me become a better parent every day.

Rachel Post

I recently attended my delayed postgraduate graduation at the University of Edinburgh. At one point in the ceremony, the graduates stand, turn to face the audience, and applaud everyone who has supported us in our journey so far. My mother and my kindergarten teacher flew all the way from America to attend the ceremony, and I was very happy to be able to share this moment with the people who have shaped my values, perspectives, and life journey.
