A review of the last year in consulting and some exciting news to share

Well, what a year. It was October 2020, I had started getting into the swing of things at AAB Consulting and had settled in well to a new role with a new team. I wrote a short piece about the first few months at the firm and mentioned, “Building the bridge between starting something new, knowing almost nothing about it and getting to a place where you feel in control and on top of things, takes time”. Needless to say, shortly after writing, I did start to feel in control and confidently started producing good work.

The projects I looked after continued to be great, challenging but equally rewarding. As 2021 progressed there were plenty of opportunities to get involved in a variety of shorter pieces of work, all providing answers to that cryptic question of “what does a management consultant really do...?” The best part for me has been getting the chance to work with a selection of brilliant clients, talented associates, and the ever impressive wider team. It has turned out to be a pretty great year.

Cue a fitting quote from Steve Jobs, “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. The only way to do great work is to love what you do.”

I can safely say, I love what I do and feel very privileged to be a part of the AAB Consulting family.

Over the last year, Lesley and Mark have been steering the ship providing a great balance of inspiration and plenty of laughs. They have brought in brilliant new colleagues who are now friends, to support the growth of our team and the exciting new work on the horizon. We have recently celebrated our third birthday and I for one am excited to see what happens next.

Now, a year later in October 2021 I am writing this as I prepare to go on maternity leave to welcome our first baby and grow our own family. I couldn’t have asked for a more supportive team during the last 8 months and have been lucky enough to experience an organised and well timed handover, confident I have left the projects I have been working on in great hands.

I may not have been able to join the most recent in person get-togethers but rest assured folks, when able, I will be there with bells on!

Whilst I take some time off to grow our family, I am so grateful that the AAB Consulting family will still be there when I am ready to integrate work back into my life. Thank you all for your support and well wishes, I look forward to seeing you all again next year.
